Veryfine does Avalon

AVALON: 1) An ocean island, where King Arthur resided and was buried. The word means "Apple island" (aval, apple; island); and it is generally thought to mean Glastonbury, a name derived from the Saxon glastn (green like glass).
2) NY's new exciting dance club hosting the famed AVALON sound system, located at 47 West 20th St. New York, NY


Friday, December 13th-Sandra Collins.

Another veryfine weekend at the Avalon. This Saturday I went down with DJ Francesca. We went to go and see Sandra Collins and PM PRODUCTIONS. The main floor was packed like sardines and surprisingly, so was the DJ booth. I never heard Sandra play before, but always enjoyed her music selection on her mix CDs and to some extent her production work as well.





Even though Sandra is known as a trance head She was definitely serving those hard house choonz from the needle of the turntable to the sound systems and onto the dance floor this past Saturday night.
It's funny, almost every time a Trance DJ comes to NY they end up playing House, not that there's anything wrong with it, but I get a feeling that the promoters of the big clubs warn them about not playing Trance; "Sandra, we'd like to book you to do this gig, the pay is well, can you promise me you wont play Trance??"
Not to say the least, the music was pumping and loud, unlike the last time I was there.




I was definitely impressed in the way the night turned out to be, a lot of party people came out to the Avalon and danced the night away. The hip hop room was being blazed by PM PRODUCTIONS with some hot new tunes as well. Both rooms were on fire with dancers. The bartenders were also blazing dollar bills to the cash register and the coat check room.
The night was veryfine with Francesca, the crowd was having the fever for the flavor and they were busting the moves. Overall a veryfine night, I enjoyed it immensely and I'm proud once again that NY has got its nightlife back. Special thanks to Betty Kang from Plexi PR.
