A Word From Dan

I would normally not post the following unless it was related to our culture.
Read on:
Two DJ`s missing in Los Angeles.
Ben Wurzberger and Adar Neuman two 25 year old DJ's have been
missing under mysterious circumstances since the night of November 30th 2002. Adar arrived in Los Angels on November 29th and was met at the Airport by his buddy Ben. That night was spent at a party and they were seen by some friends the following day. The two friends made plans to fly to Las Vegas where they were hoping to get some gigs.
Adar promised to call his Mother on December 2nd but never did. On
December 3rd Ben's family received a phone call telling them that
their son has a surprise for them. The caller was an unknown lady who
refused to identify herself. Ben's friend tried to call Ben's cell phone
and a strange voice answered, saying he had found the phone in Las Vegas and he knows nothing.
Stranger things were to happen. Ben's Chevrolet was found near the
Downtown police station in Los Angeles on December 3rd..keyes in the
switch..all their precious belongings, records, electronic instruments, etc,
all in the car ...untouched. Los Angeles Police claim no foul play seems to
have taken place.
A month ago the boys were sighted at a small Inn somewhere in Nevada
not too far from Reno and now are lost again.
Ben Wurzberger sometimes known as Ben Berger......
Height 5`10. born on October 26th 1978 eyes coloured bluish green, hair brown and short, weight 155 lb.
Adar Neuman height 5`9. Born on March 14th 1978
eyes colored blue, hair brown and short, weight 160 lb.
At the moment I have no pictures of the two, once i`ll get them I will make an attempt to post it.
If anyone has any information that might lead to the finding of the two, please inform the local authorities, or Email us at info@downshiftradio.com.

DJ Ron V on The Soulful Hour Plus
Ron V makes a special appearance on "The Soulful Hour Plus" with Jay Smoove and Rodney BX.
Influenced by such DJs as Tony Humphries, Merlin Bob, John Robinson & Naeem Johnson, Ron V started spinning in 1986, at Hampton University`s campus parties. Deejaying was a hobby back then, but it wasn`t until 2 years ago that he decided to take deejaying to another level.
That is when he was introduced to his now good friend, DJ Camacho (Wake Up Records). They have spun at several clubs together including, Frank`s Lounge, The Duplexx, Club 1199 and Club Eclipse. In addition,he had deejayed with Ruben Toro of 98.7 KISS FM at The Duplexx and with Nicole Otero (Distant Music) on her Thursday night radio show on WNYU. Camacho has introduced him to a lot of people in the business, many who have become his friends as well.
Ron`s current residency is at Jekyll & Hyde (91 7th Ave South, NY) where he spins a diverse blend of Soulful Underground music.
The Soulful Hour Plus-Wednesday March 5th from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM EST - Deep, Soulful House.

Kinky Productions presents:
Jamal C

As far as unsung DJs go, there are few that really have the goods when put to the test, but in the case of old-school industry DJ Jemal C, just one listen to his free mixing style and all doubts will be put to rest. A soft-spoken Southern gentleman by nature, itıs his quiet demeanor that has kept him safely under the radar while heıs earned a global reputation for knowing, selling and promoting only the hottest jams. All while regularly playing in some of the North Eastıs most legendary deep house lounges, neighborhood watering holes and influential big rooms from New York and D.C. to Miami.
Born in late sixties Baltimore, he came of age during the seventies and started flexing his musical muscles as a classically trained violinist and acoustic bass player in High School. Finding more inspiration in mixing music rather than playing it, it was an old-school mentor and the burgeoning hip hop and dance music movements that inspired Jemal to give up lunch and his allowance, to begin collecting records. ³What kept me interested was meeting Tommy Davis( an original member of the Basement Boys).
After his 1985 debut in a cousinıs backyard, he graduated to his own college radio show in the mountains of Maryland. "I played rare Trax Records, European jazzy-techno, Madonna and Paula Abdul house mixes along with Inner City. They geeked off of it.² Switching to Howard University, he quickly lit up D.C.ıs nightlife with regular appearances at legendary parties where he ³played everything under the sun² for the temporary ex-New York and New Jersey clubbers turned students. Learning fast how to please a fussy crowd. ³I played with a partner named Fred Marsh at Kilamanjaro on Thursdayıs. We played on four-turntables. I would blend records while he would cut over them, mixing hip hop as well as transforming over house records.²
On the retail tip, Jemalıs rise through the ranks began at D.C. institution 12² Dance, where he apprenticed with owner/Billboard reporter Wresch Dawidjian before moving to New York and joining the Eight Ball Records crew. Here, he began cultivating long-standing musical relationships with underground legends Frankie Knuckles, Danny Tenaglia and Little Louie Vega among others while earning guest spots at classic venues like Sound Factory Bar and Save the Robots. After a brief return to DC before settling back in New York mid 97, Jemal went on to manage Dance Tracks, help develop Dub Spot and currently lends his soul to Americaıs largest independent dance music chain, Satellite Records. As a Head Buyer of Deep House & Abstract releases for all three stores.
Nearly twenty years later, heıs still mixing and still having fun as he brings his musical SOUNDGARDEN to varied residencies and special appearances as a favorite, surprisingly good guest. ³I am known for playing very deep, very jazzy, very different music. I am an emotional griot a storyteller who reflects emotions at large in what I play and how I play it. ³ On the strength of that musical diversity, Jemal has held down long-term residencies at quirky New York venues Avenue A Sushi, Orchard Bar and Aubette, while guesting at celebrated big rooms including Shelter and Body & SOUL, along with countless other parties including Andalú (D.C.), Deep See (NYC) and the Yellow After-Party (Miami).
The Kinky show-hosted by Doug G and Omar Herrera-Thursdays from 11:00 PM - 1:00 AM - House, Deep, Soulful.
