A Word From Dan

From terror warnings to snow blizzards, life couldn't get more exciting than it is in NYC. I would like to apologize to all of our listeners who were struggling to get our stream over the weekend. The bad weather and the strong winds brought our line down for a few hours and left a lot of people hanging without their DSR fix, but now things are back to normal and we are well prepared for the next strike, er...storm. So as you cuddle at home watching the snow fall outside of your window, don't forget to tune in to your favorite radio station online and check our DJs dropping the needle on the record and making your winter a hot one.
As always,
Keep 'em dancin'.

The Spin Doctor

On Thursday, December 11th, Tune in to the Progressive and Hard sounds of The Spin Doctor, from 9-11:00 pm.
Throughout history there have been those who have taught us many things. Those stand out individuals are what make the world a better place, while creating a life for themselves that relies on truth, honor, and passion. Teaching us a thing or two in life and behind the turntables while igniting us with renewed passion is DJ SPIN DOCTOR. Perhaps not yet part of history, yet creating a niche for himself, SPIN DOCTOR got his start 13 years ago while fiddling with his brother's old DJ equipment, he was hooked right from the start and wanted to turn his passion to a career. At 24, SPIN DOCTOR, also know as Sal Mastro continues to rock audiences all across New York, from small events to huge clubs. SPIN DOCTOR's style of spinning is unique, blending many styles of HiNRG, Hard and Progressive House. He is a storyteller, most noted for his powerful mixes. His main inspirations are Tony Draper and Jonathan Peters. Perhaps you have seen SPIN DOCTOR in action, for those who have they never forget what this Doc can do. As of today, the SPIN DOCTOR is residing in NY, Long Island Area, currently devoting his free time to perfecting his mixes and producing the next world hit at his production lab.

Mike Dextro-special set

On Saturday, December 13th, log on from 3:00-6:00 pm EST and tune in to the sounds of Mike Dextro.
Whether its the cool melody of an RnB vocalist singing over an 808 drum machine from 1985, or a mind altering soft-synth sequence from 2003, Mike Dextro finds the beauty of nostalgia priceless and important these days when spinning his dance tracks. His ability to unearth beauty as simplicity and complexity in minimalism is a characteristic that defines his distinctive style. His admiration for futurism also plays a major role because that's what the 80's were about essentially, and he's not making it happen to jump on the bandwagon either.
His love for dance music has existed from the time he was old enough to buy cassettes. His first album was KLF's "The White Room", he still has tapes from when Hot 97 used to play acid house and techno on the weekends. Mike has been digging through his subconscious and the crates overflowing with music he's collected and had handed down over the years - this research is really starting to pay off. He's been DJ'ing for two years and because of his familiarity with urban culture in NYC and exposure to the music industry through employment at Rawkus Records he has been rocking venues that include: Liquids, Drinkland, Last Exit, Rare, Mod, Idlewilde and will never deny a loft party, whether it's his own or his friends. His seamless mixes are a blend of 80's freestyle, new wave, RnB, and italo disco with recent house, electrowave, and techno releases that pay homage to the new romantic sound era.
Mike has also been recording for 6 years and will be celebrating his first release of a cover tune of italo disco group Ganymede's "Music Takes Me Higher" with DJ Ulysses on Turbo Records. He is currently recording ambient soundscapes with Echo Recovery Unit on Progressive Form Records, is also involved in a hip-hop down tempo project with recording artist/producer Ole, called Diesel and Raw, and has plans to start a record label of his own. On top of that he's got a live PA pop project with Joe Pepitone and Kai Altaire called The Switch. His love for music and intuition for the business will continue to progress in new and exciting forms of musical expression in the years to come.
Mike Dextro-electrowave-Saturday, December 13th-from 3:00 pm-6:00 pm EST.
