Hippie Torrales on the Kinky Show

On Thursday, November 13th, Tune in to hear a special set by the legendary Hippie Torrales on the Kinky show with Doug G and Omar Herrera, from 11:00 pm- 1:00 am.
Hippie Torrales' career spans 30 years. He began DJ'ing in 1973 at the age of 15. As the original DJ at the world-renowned club, Zanzibar, as well as playing other New Jersey clubs, he achieved national recognition from the Music Industry, which garnered him two major awards:
1980 Disco Awards, 1st. place as a DJ
1980 Winner of Billboard Magazine "Best DJ" in the State of New Jersey
His talent as a DJ continued to generate a steady stream of opportunities, a few which included: being one of the resident house DJ's to play at Sound Factory Bar with Little Louie Vega; as one of the top DJ's has been flown all over the world to make regular guest appearances at the best clubs internationally.
His innate ability to blend music led him to remixing and producing, a natural progression. In the 80's, Hippie remixed such well-known classics as Jimmy Ross'-"Fall Into A Trance," and the Clark Sisters - "You Brought The Sunshine." During this time, Hippie continued with his passion of playing at clubs by maintaining active DJ'ing gigs at Club Panache and Club Hollywood in the Jersey Shores, and Docks in Newark.
Hippie naturally progressed into producing original tracks the first one being "You're Gonna Miss Me" by the Turntable Orchestra, which became an instant classic in Europe. He also produced for independent labels like Downtown 161, Emotive, New Breed and Tombah. In addition, he did regular remix work on Emotive, Warner Bros., Kaleidiascope, Shelter Rec. and Vibe.
In the early 90's Hippie formed MenTor Productions with his partner Mark Mendoza. Shortly after, the dual got their big break with the remix of "I Want You" by Rosie Gaines on Motown. They went on to remix such notables as "Happy Days" by Blaze on Phuture Trax, "What You Want" by Future Force on AM:PM and "Circles" by Kimara Lovelace on King St, which went to No. 1 on the Billboard Dance Charts.
As a follow-up to Rosie Gaines' "I Want You," the dual went back to work on the production of "Closer Than Close," in collaboration with Ms. Gaines. Another hit was achieved, which went top 5 on the British Pop Charts and sold over 8 million units.
Hippie currently resides in New Jersey and maintains close ties with the music community in the New York area.
