This week`s topic is- Buy A Record!
Times are tough for the record labels. First we heard about 'Strictly Rhythm' going out of business and now more and more record companies are forced to close their doors due to lack of record sales.
Don`t get this wrong, the music didn't turn bad, but yet people rather download free music online then pay for it. Make no mistake-that takes a direct toll on the industry and our culture.
Three more MAJOR dance labels (we wont mention names) are about to close down in the next week. This is bad news.
If the record companies are shutting down, underground dance music will follow, and that will affect DJs, clubs, and of course-radio.
It`s time to put an end to this insanity-and you can make a difference!
Act now. Don`t wait till tomorrow. Go to a record store and buy a record, a mix CD, don`t let our industry collapse. Its not that expensive, and your paying for the artists` and labels` hard work. They deserve it.
If you buy online here`s a little gem I came across this weekend- Hooj Choons are clearing their inventory this week till Feb 3rd. Expect to find titles by Perfecto records, Ministry Of Sound and of course Hooj, down to as low as 2 pounds (4.1 us dollars!) a record.
Go and buy a record, hell buy two, buy one for a friend. It`s cheap, and it`s something that you LOVE, why not pay for it.

Shawn Ink in the PLAYHOUSE
Patricia Starr hosts Shawn Ink on "Patricia's Playhouse".
"Shawn Ink" was born and bread in Brooklyn, New York.
DJing from the young age of 14, Shawn has held residencies at many elite venues in the New York Metro area such as China Club, Exit, Float, Saci, Sound Factory, Webster Hall as well as WKRB 90.9 FM in Brooklyn, NY.
His portfolio only begins there with guest appearances in many Tri-State area nightclubs such as Abyss, Cream, Joey Harrison`s Surf Club, Limelight, 151, Lot 61, Nativa, Powder, The Roxy, Shine, Twirl, the World and the recent Summer Musicfest at Nansen Park.
Ink has also been invited to perform at many prominent Nightclubs outside the borders of NYC, from The Clevelander in Miami to Krystal in Cancun, Mexico.

Benji Candelario on Kinky Productions
World renown DJ/Producer Benji Candelario comes to visit Doug G and Omar Herrerra on yet another edition of Kinky Productions.
For years DJ/producer Benji Candelario has been doing it like Frank Sinatra. 'His Way'. He entered the music business in 1980 working with two of the most groundbreaking producers of that era: Arthur Baker and Aldo Marin. Editing records for the likes of Grace Jones, Evelyn King, Thomas Dolby. The Bee Gees and New Order. During his stint at Cutting Records he helped produce such classics as Nitro Deluxe's 'Let's Get Brutal'.
In 1991 he found himself working in the Capitol Records dance dept. promoting such acts as Mellowman Ace, and HammerŠ. quite a stretch from his dance music roots, but it was at Capitol that Candelario met Des O'Neal, an overseas radio programmer who took him to London and put him on the air as Choice FM's new mixshow jock.
Stepping into the 90's as a respected DJ/Remixer. (he remixed records by Todd Terry, C-12, Living Joy, Inner City and Hippie Movement and has worked crowds at staples like 'The Building'. Red Zone and Danceteria) one of Candelario's greatest contributions came during an A&R job at Vito Bruno's AM:PM Entertainment when he hipped Bruno to an import release of one of the Biggest finds in the history of the company: Crystal Waters. At Candelario's insistence Bruno quickly signed her and helped cement a deal at Mercury with the Basement Boys on as producers. Soon finding himself in high demand as a DJ in London, Candelario quickly developed into one of the most influential dj's on the planet obtaining cult status in Spain, Italy.
