kevin Hedge on the DSH+

On Wednesday, october 1st, Tune in to the Deep Soulful House Plus show spotlighting Kevin hedge (West End records/Blaze), starting 4-8:00 pm.
Growing up with his Mom in Newark, NJ, young Kevin Hedge became the resident DJ at "rent parties" he would throw to try and make some extra money during lean times. Kevin then became a small-time DJ around New Jersey and always dreamed of making it across the river in Manhattan. Upon hooking up with friends Josh Milan and singer Chris Herbert, they formed a musical group called Blaze. In 1987 Blaze's first track "Whatcha Gonna Do" echoed at the Paradise Garage club. The crowd went crazy for it.
Hedge volunteered at a record store in NJ called Movin' Records and through the owner met WBLS Radio DJ Timmy Regisford. Regisford became a big-brother figure to Hedge and procured writing and production work for Blaze with several different major labels. Regisford subsequently got them a lucrative recording and publishing deal with Motown Records.
Blaze authored a number of deep house anthems from the 1980s and '90s, including "If You Should Need a Friend", "My Desire", "Hideaway" by De'Lacy which sold more than 3 million copies worldwide, "Breathe", "Do You Remember House", "I Think Of You", "Gloria's Muse" and countless others.
Kevin had also maintained involvement in the legendary New York City underground dance party The Shelter for almost a decade. As producer and creative director of the party, Kevin brought an array of fabulous performers including Mary J. Blige, Grace Jones and Patti Labelle.
He was the co-founder and an active owner in its first year of existence along with DJ Timmy Regisford and Freddy Sanon, the manager of the Shelter 157 Records label. After creating the blueprint for Club Shelter and directing the club's first year, Hedge decided to leave the nightlife business to his partners and concentrate on what he does best, making music. Milan and Hedge are working on array of remixes and are currently finishing up their next album tentatively titled "Blaze Jazz." The duo plans to do a tour with a live band upon the album's release.
Kevin Hedge is also busy as President of seminal dance music label West End Records. Hedge plans to release soulful house singles and create a new imprint label called West End Tracks.

New show alert-Francesca's Fever

On Wednesday, october 1st, Tune in to listen to DJ Francesca's very own "Francesca's Fever" show starting 11:00 pm-1:00 am.
DJ Francesca aka THATDJGIRL is an up and coming female DJ sensation that has been turning out the NYC Club scene for several years now. What started out as a hobby in college, quickly escalated into her career. "I only got into djing, because I was a club kid, who lived for the music. I got turntables so I could make mixed tapes of the music I loved, music that was many times only available on vinyl."
Often in life one thing leads to another and 7 years later her unique mixing ability and extreme determination have earned her guest spots at such NYC Clubs as Centrofly, Shelter, Aria, Metronome, Twirl, OHM, Stonewall and Tavern On the Green to name a few. She has held residencies at Escuelita and Cheetah, and is a resident DJ for such events as Shescape & Lovergirl, which are NYC's biggest female parties. Her music has even taken her to Philadelphia, California, and Florida where she received rave revues this past year at The Prestigious White Party.
Presently DJ Francesca is working hard to accomplish bigger goals reaching beyond the turntables. When Francesca is not spinning, she's hard at work in her studio working on remixes as well as original productions. She is currently working on her first album, which will consist of a variety of original house tracks ranging from soulful groovy house to progressive tribal beats.
Francesca's Fever with DJ Francesca-Wednesdays, from 11:00 pm-1:00 am EST.

Justin Schumacher-Special set

On Sunday, October 5th, tune in at 10:00pm-12:00 midnight to check out a special set by Justin Schumacher.
Although he's only been spinning for two and a half years, Justin Schumacher has developed naturally into a prime time performer. This 21 year old prodigy from Brooklyn, NY combines various styles of techno that are sure to rock any floor, whether it's bangin, deep, funky or multi-layered madness on three decks. Throw in flawless mixing and juggling, and you've got serious mood manipulation. A sigh of relief from the monotonous pounding you hear quite to often from recognized deejays. He has blessed the speakers at many of NYC's most well respected techno weekly's, and is hard at work for the Satellite Records website, keeping his box filled with the freshest tunes as well as those neglected gems from times past. With productions crowding his computer, it's only a matter of time before you see his name on the biggest flyers and in the box of every techno titan.
Justin Schumacher-Techno and breaks-October 5th from 10:00pm-12:00am EST.
