A Word From Dan
Hey everybody,
Man oh man...I feel old today, this week on September 18th Downshift will celebrate its 2nd year anniversary. That's right two years of streaming underground dance music from our studio and into your living room.
First and foremost I would like to thank all of the listeners who have kept us going stronger each and every day. All of the emails, the chatters and the stalkers (stalkers??-Ed.) Thanks for giving us the hunger to stream our music.
Secondly, thanks to all the performers who came by and played at the studio; the DJs, the dancers, the singers and the musicians, Downshift wouldn't be the same without you. We have a lot of surprises for everyone this year and that means more records more events and of course-more shows.
Don't forget to check out this week's Downshift spotlight with a Tony Draper interview. Judging by the viewers reaction last week on Tony's show, we decided to have a special interview with the man. If you missed Tony last week check out the clip and also don't forget to check his show tonight, Monday from 10:00 pm.
Thanks again for a great two years and we can assure you that the best is yet to come!

Tony Draper
This week we met with Tony Draper and got to find out a little bit more about the man who rocks the DSR decks on his new weekly show "Draper Place".

Soulphonix Radio- with Paul "Simply P" Washington
On Friday, September 19th, Tune in to listen to Soulphonix radio with your host Paul Washington, starting 10:00 pm-12:00 am.
Started in 1979 as a basement DJ spinning Hip-Hop and R&B, Paul Washington's musical taste progressed through the years and in 1988, dance music became a major part of the young DJ's arsenal and has transcended over the years through the club scene over radio airwaves. His radio experience began in 1988 in the college sector. For the next 10 years and beyond, Paul has held club residencies, made special guest appearances (club & radio), and either produced or co-produced mix-show programming for various college and commercial stations (WYBC, WNEZ, WBLS, WNYU, KKFR, KZHT, WTCC, WESU, WRTC, KCRL) throughout New England and the New York metropolitan areas respectively.
Paul currently holds a weekly mixshow in California on KESQ/Fresno and KHTN/Modesto between 12 mid-3 AM PST on Fridays and Saturdays, where he plays an eclectic one hour mix of Deep (vocal and tracks), Tech-House, filtered, downtempo and most other Soulful sub-genres.
Paul is also a Sales Representative for the NY based Warner Music Group sub-division ADA (Alternative Distribution Alliance).
He is also the co-founder of Soulphonix Entertainment, LLC. A music consultant company geared towards guiding and educating individuals that are SERIOUS about persuing a career in the performing arts (specifically music). Soulphonix gives workshops and training (next one to be held on March 2004 in Newark, NJ).

Lubricated records with Robert Martinez
On Saturday, September 20th, Tune in to listen to Lubricated records front man, DJ Robert Martinez starting midnight-2:00 am.
A Dj since the early '70, DJ Robert Martinez played at major New York hot spots through the 80's. Early 1990 Robert started promoting record labels including slammin records, kult and soulshine. he was also director of SOS record pool in Bronx NY. Late 90's Robert moved to Florida to head promotion and A&R for Soulshine recordings. It was there where he was also head marketing for Harlequinn records. rob moved back to new york in 2001 and now formed his new label "Lubricated Records" that will put out good music without any labeling music criteria-"If it's good it will be on this label".
First release has been pushed back to April of 2004 in time for the winter music conference.

On Sunday, September 21st, Tune in to listen to a special Trance set brought to you by Elektrolust, starting at 9:00 pm-1:00 am.
Elektrolust is a new foundation of Trance, excelling in Psy-Melodic and Atmospheric styles. Four members of the group will be performing live on DSR this coming Sunday, September 21st.
DJ Sh.I.K.I.D.- is one of America's most intriguing trance DJs who continually breaks new musical ground. Beginning as Israeli psytrance DJ in 1999 he went on to inspire the New York scene with the latest astonishing progressive vibes - a fusion of all that is hard and funky.
Dr. Zinnober & Nikto- were among first New York Trance Scene producers. After their successful performance at The OmniDance Festival, Zin and Nikto persistently forged their unique sound at the edge of progressive and ambient styles.
DJ Andrey K- Over the past 12 months Andrey became one of the genre hottest future prospects, catching the eye of the premier league artists. Quickly establishing a reputation as a highly qualified DJ, Andrey was soon performing his astonishing set on OmniDance Festival with such well known artists as Noma and S-Range.
