A Word From Dan
Looking back at last week, I can't help but be amazed at the talent that came across and performed on our radio. I Synthesist and Saint Eve started the weekend activities with a dazzling performance (check out "Downshift Lounge" section for pics) featuring a state of the art visual showcase. The Housefunktion crew proved to us that House in New Jersey is not just a feeling but a very recognized scene and on Sunday we held one of the biggest events to ever take place at our studio. "Signal" crew took command over our decks from 5:00 pm till 2:00 am playing a wide variety of electronic dance music, including House, Soul, DnB and Tech Trance.
If you think that this week is any slower, think again. keep your eyes and ears opened for more surprise guests and excitement.

Kevin Russel`s "Hot Chocolate" presents: the Dusty groove
Kevin Russell and Arthur Wooten co-host this Bi-monthly event, featuring deep house, Nu-jazz, Funk and Rare grooves with special guests.
Kevin Russell`s music history started with a very big club called Bonds International, where he got his very first Lesson at how a DJ really works a crowd. He listened to Kenny Carpenter and thought, "damn, I love this scene".

On Saturday, August 16th from 6:00 -8:00 pm check out the sounds of DJ/Producer Hakan Albal.
Born in istanbul, Turkey and spinning since 1984, DJ/Producer Hakan Albal has established himself as a unique DJ in NYC playing a fusion of world beat and Techno-House music.
From his mobile gigs to appearances at selected venues in the city Hakan created a big following, leading him to play for hundreds of people in packed clubs and lounges.

David Oliva and J Bellz.
On Friday, August 15th and Sunday, August 17th log on to www.downshiftradio.com and tune in to a special progressive set by David Oliva and J Bellz.
Born in brooklyn and raised in Long Island, David Oliva started DJing doing private gigs and block parties that inspired him to take his career more seriously and invade the big apple. Oliva`s style, sound, and moods are unique to the scene that he feels is an important aspect to life, his sets will bring you down and then raise you up again on a roller coaster of emotion and feeling.
Coming back for seconds and thirds on DSR, this time around you will listen to the other side of DJ Oliva, the sound of music that is good for your soul. And if that wasn`t enough, Oliva teams up with J Bellz from the Bronx (Exit) on both sets. Bellz music is similar to DJ Isaac and Tony Draper, bringing you Hard House to the fullest. Bellz on a hiatus from the club scene for a few months, is making his debut at Downshift. And he's hungry!!!

Veryfine sessions with guest Rik Stylz.
On Sunday, August 17th check out the Veryfine Sessions hosted by DJ Veryfine with special guest Rik Stylz.
Born and rasied in NY Rik started spinning 8 years ago at private parties and as a mobile jock. His past time would soon become his passion. After heavy influences from raves and clubs in NYC, Rik decided to tap into the scene, starting with House music and proceeding to Trance.
Now, close to a decade in the business, Rik holds an impressive resume including opening gigs for Paul Oakenfold, Moby and Carl Cox. He has joined the ranks of System 7 management and currently is based in Texas.
He is also associated with Flux, a production crew based in Texas and Event Horizon, a production company run by Roger Williams which led to a release of Rik`s first dance tracks "Tears" and "New World" on "Rock and Bass" records.

On Sunday, August 17th check out a special set brought to you by Kind Nick, airing at 10:00 pm EST.
A practicing musician for 15 years, Nick's musical boundaries vary from playing blues / rock guitar to mixing house and techno and everything in between. Traveling from Virginia to New Hampshire laying down numerous tracks for various bands and performing at such venues as CBGB, Bat Cave, Elbow Room Down Time, Leopard Lounge Nick has made his mark in the music world and realized that this is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
In 1992 while studying guitar and drums Nick became heavily involved with the industrial and electronic scene. Groups like Front 242, KMFDM and Ministry, all contributed to his musical development. At the same time he began frequenting clubs in lower Manhattan such as Webster Hall, Limelight, Palladium, Tunnel an Twilo. Backed up with the experience and the determination , Nick started to develop his DJ career. Since 1996 he has released countless CDs and played with artists such as Marco Bailey, Christopher Lawrence, Venom, Micro, Freddie, Dan Gracie and Rob. G at Exit, Sound factory, Shelter, Asylum, Lunatarium and more.
Each year he continue to develop his knowledge and skills within all musical genres. Right now he is working on an acoustic album due out next summer and is also the proud owner of Kind Nick Productions, specializing in sound rental for DJ / Band, full Pro Tools recording, duplication and On Disc printing.
An aspiring producer, song writer and DJ, Nick's dream is to perform full time and travel the world doing so.
