A Word From Dan

Yaaaaay, summer is here in NYC and it`s hot and sticky everywhere you go.
A great example of how hot it got on DSR, was yesterday (Sunday, July 6th)when our poor old AC went out and left a soaking wet DJ Garfield in the room for 2 hours. Those of you who tuned in saw a very skilled AC technician (who also happens to write this column every week) get on the mission and swap the AC live on Garfield`s show. On another note I`d like to thank all the listeners who tuned in last Tuesday to Patricia`s Playhouse show with guest Tony Draper. Thanks to all the IMs/emails and the guests who came to our studio. Tony tore it up with a Banging Techno set on the first hour and then later on with an all original production (love that inner city sample track)- move over Richie Hawtin!!
Highlights of the night- DJ Patricia Starr wears a sexy fishnet shirt, makes it look like she wears nothing but a bra on the camera.
Biggest disaster of the night-next door rock band neighbors walk in the room with a parking meter (!) and drop it on the floor makes Tony D`s record skip (do you know how heavy those things are??) they make it up by buying drinks to everyone in the room.
Alright, that`s it from me, lets get on with the line of shows for this week.

DJ KrazyGlue-special set.

A household name on the East Coast, DJ KrazyGlue started the Drum N Breaks crew back in 1996 with his partner Shane and has pushed the breakbeat/drum and bass fusion ever since. With over 10 years of experience playing jazz and alto saxophone, Krazy was well-grounded for success in the music industry.
Performing at almost every major event in the tri-state area the past few years, and making his way to London at the legendary Ministry of Sound, Krazy is working hard to make his name stick. Introduced to drum and bass in the mid-late 90šs jump-up years, Krazy has progressed to playing hard, dark, rolling, and emotional drum and bass. You can also catch him spinning a variety of breaks, nu skool, 80šs, and even rock n roll, sometimes on 4 decks with the rest of the boys. His roots in the early 90šs Long Island straightedge hardcore movement are evident during his energetic sets he is constantly moving, never standing still.
Krazy mixes include: Kawzn Kaos (1999), Drum N Breaks (2000), Bananas (2001), Live at WEMF (2001), and The Horror (2003). He recently did some guest scratching with up and coming hip-hop artists Proximity Minds, plus studio collaboration with Daryl Polumbo, aka Bright of Tokyo Sound Lab/Glassjaw fame. His crew was a feature on popular electronic music sites like breaksworld.com and selekta.com. His affiliations include his homemade company, Drum N Breaks, plus UK-based organization Dekefex (a top-notch London dnb company, which Krazy was asked to join after his set at Ministry the crew has received high praise in magazines like Knowledge and ATM,), and also KSJ out of eastern PA.
Aside from playing records, Krazy and partner Myk1Cee have kept the beat going on Long Island for the past 5 years, with their popular weekly, Future Intelligence - featuring world-renowned talents like Dieselboy, Dara, DB, Reid Speed, Capital J, Pish Posh, Empress, DJ Odi, Myster Mason and MC Armanni, and many, many more over the years. Their most successful event, Tribute, raised over $3,000 for the families of the Cantor-Fitzgerald victims in the 2001 WTC disaster and earned them great recognition from the surviving employees.
DJ KrazyGlue- Drum n Breaks-Friday, July 11th from 11:00 PM-12:00 AM EST.

Justin Schumacher-Techno Set.
Although he's only been spinning for two and a half years, Justin
Schumacher has developed naturally into a prime time performer. This 21
year old prodigy from Brooklyn, NY combines various styles of techno that
are sure to rock any floor, whether it's bangin, deep, funky or
multi-layered madness on three decks. Throw in flawless mixing and
juggling, and you've got serious mood manipulation. A sigh of relief from
the monotonous pounding you hear quite to often from recognized deejays. He has blessed the speakers at many of NYC's most well respected techno weekly's, and is hard at work for the Satellite Records website, keeping his box filled with the freshest tunes as well as those neglected gems from times past. With productions crowding his computer, it's only a matter of time before you see his name on the biggest flyers and in the box of every techno titan.
Justin Schumacher- Techno set-Sunday, July 13th from 10:00 PM-12:00 AM EST.
