A Word From Dan
Are you all ready for the summer?
We know we are. Last week Downshift signed on a weekly residency with club Opaline (85 Ave A, NY NY) to take over their Thursday nights and boy, do we have some events lined up for you!
One thing we can guarantee you is that this summer you`ll definitely sweat your socks off. We`ll have more details for you by next week`s newsletter about the full line up and the opening date.
Looking for a good record to buy? Alex Arzeno and Ali Kay were thinking the same before they sat down in their studios and produced "Firewire" and "Godless". Two tracks to look for on their new "sirenum records" imprint. Alex and Ali (AKA Digital Duo) have been producing banging tunes for the past few years now and this is their first major release. Both tracks are of high quality standards and will definitely get your attention if you're a big hard house/progressive fan.

Puerto Rican Day Parade grand finale.
Just when you thought that the Puerto Rican Day Parade festivities were over comes DJ Shadow and DJ Ral and kick the festivities to a higher gear.
On Monday, June 9th from 4pm - 9pm, DJ Shadow starts off this tribute to the Puerto Rican Day Parade with a special 3 hour latin House marathon, followed by DJ Ral with 2 more banging hours of bongo-conga madness.
So get those shakers and tambourines ready and dance your rear end off on this special Puerto Rican Day Parade tribute.

Shawn Ink at the Playhouse
Patricia Starr hosts Shawn Ink on "Patricia's Playhouse".
"Shawn Ink" was born and bread in Brooklyn, New York.
DJing from the young age of 14, Shawn has held residencies at many elite venues in the New York Metro area such as China Club, Exit, Float, Saci, Sound Factory, Webster Hall as well as WKRB 90.9 FM in Brooklyn, NY.
His portfolio only begins there with guest appearances in many Tri-State area nightclubs such as Abyss, Cream, Joey Harrison`s Surf Club, Limelight, 151, Lot 61, Nativa, Powder, The Roxy, Shine, Twirl, the World and the recent Summer Musicfest at Nansen Park.
Ink has also been invited to perform at many prominent Nightclubs outside the borders of NYC, from The Clevelander in Miami to Krystal in Cancun, Mexico.

With more than 15 years of experience in providing uplifting moods, in large size venues as well as cosier smaller lounges. Guest Paul Zazadze specializes in energetic Tech and Progressive House as well as Tribal and Melodic Jazzy Deep-House.
With past appereances in some of NYC`s finest clubs Chateau, Limelight Amaranth, Saci, GrooveJet, and his current residency in Halcyon, as well as touring around Eastern Europe (Istanbul, Bodrum, Ankara), Paul delivers a special set of melodic sounds and hypnotic rhythms.

Kevin Russel`s Hot Chocolate.
Kevin Russell and Arthur Wooten co-host this Bi-monthly event, featuring deep house, Nu-jazz, Funk and Rare grooves.
This week`s guests is DJ Glenn Thornton from "Together in Spirit".
Kevin Russell`s music history started with a very big club called Bonds International, where he got his very first Lesson at how a DJ really works a crowd. He listened to Kenny Carpenter and thought, "damn, I love this scene".
After that night he went through a relentless pursuit from Club to Club, until he finally found a home at the Legendary Paradise Garage and Club Zanzibar. Hearing Larry Levan at the Garage and Tee Scott at the Zanzibar was where he got most of his roots from.
Ever since 1983 Kevin has been playing in residential bars and clubs and spreading his love for the underground music.
Current project Hot Chocolate will feature Deep House, Rare Grooves and Funk, music programmed by Resident Kevin Russell and Friends streaming live audio and video at Downshiftradio.com.
Fifth show will be brewed on Saturday, June 14th.
