I really don't know where to start! All I know that I fell in love with HOUSE MUSIC from the first time I heard it on the radio, when Tony Humphries & Little Louie Vega used to play Kiss FM. or when one of my good friends used to gave me mixed tapes of recording that he taped of the radio. Even as a teenager I wanted to be apart of the scene. I started hanging out with that friends when I attending H.S. back in the mid 80's that when was heavy into Hip-Music as they called. I just loved the way Hip Hop & House Music sound together. Early in the 80's to 90's I started listen to more House Music being played by Louie & Tony, at the time these two DJ were legends before their time. I would always tune in when Tony would be playing live from Club Zanzibar. I would hear the crowd going crazy when Tony would play a records that everyone would sing along to. Well that's part of my life when I started Listen to House.
I started collecting records I didn't even own turntables yet. First I would hit all the records shops that I could get to, carrying around long list songs that I did even know that titles to or even the artist. All I knew that these records were being play at the clubs and at time on the radio. All that matter that I loved the music and I would have done anything to get it. Within 3 to 6 months I already had collected over 400 to 600 records from a to z all labels. Then I brought my first 1200 from Charlie from vinylmania. On account of Charlie I was able to obtain most of the records that I own now. Charlie knew that I was a big fan of Louie Vega. He would go out of his way just to get records that I wanted most. Of course Alix A. would put me on to alot of the tunes that were being played at the time. I would go to the parties that Louie would be playing at or was guest dj. Alix A. whom I started talking to him alot about being apart of the scene. Al at one point said to me that he wanted me to be apart of his team at the time when Sole Channel parties were being held at route 85. Cool little spot that was great to listen to the latest tunes being played by the big dj's including Alix & Mr V. These two cats made apart of their team as the promoter for Sole Channel. I thought it was a great chance for me to be apart of the scene and support the music that I love so much. For short period I promoted the parties, until Sole Channel decided that they needed a bigger venue.
