To label Dan Bino as just a DJ or producer would be discrediting one of dance music's hardest working individuals given his wide array of talents.
Since he discoverd dance music in 1992, Dan has been pushing the envelope to advance the genre in New York. With an extensive background, that includes experience spinning professionally in nightclubs around the world, producing music, running a record label and program directing, Dan was inspired to create Downshift studios. A pioneering Internet radio station based out of New York, Downshiftradio has hosted the talents of more than 3,000 DJs from around the world. Labeled by Time Out magazine as the "Underground Broadcast Sensation", Downshift led by Bino has been invited to participate in many events in NYC and abroad.
At 33, with way over a decade of experience, Dan has learned to distinguish
the difference in musical styles that today's modern dance music consists of and collectively mixes those genres to create one musical journey in his sets.
A quick listen to his Essential Sets on Downshift will reveal Dan comfortably mixing House music alongside Tech, Acid and Breaks in a perfectly sensible manner. Dan concentrates on diversifying his sound as much as he does perfecting a mix. His choice of music is not based on a specific style, but rather on a unique, identifiable sound.
