Downshift is the brainchild of DJ/producer Dan Bino. Having been directly involved with the dance music industry and club culture for over a decade, Dan was inspired to build Downshift studios out of his desire to form a network with others in the music industry. From the first day of its inception till this very day, Downshift studios serve as a place where modern dance music lives, and through an internet simulcast feed, is shared with the world. Starting operation on September 18, 2001, Downshift opened its doors to a variety of established and aspiring DJs, targeting down an assortment of talents who specialize in a wide variety of dance music genres. House music, Techno and Hip Hop are on offer alongside IDM, leftfield and Hardcore. Over the past 4 years of operation our attentive support and continuous performing schedule have created an outstanding reputation, attracting over 2,000 aspiring and well-known DJs throughout the east coast area. Through consistent studio streaming and the successful creation of a network of DJs and other professionals in the dance music industry, Downshift has been invited to participate in various venues and club events in several locations in the United States. Such exposure, resulting in more collaborative joint affairs, has led to the creation of the Downshift Record Label in 2003.
